This course is designed to train persons who are responsible for undertaking track maintenance or renewals where they are required to operate Portable, Transportable and Mobile Plant (Trolley Equipment) in their daily work.

This course provides the underpinning knowledge and practical experience on the safe and effective operation of Trolley Equipment. It is intended for candidates who wish to act as a Hand Trolley Controller on Network Rail’s infrastructure.

How long does this competency last?

The PTMP 16 Safe use of Trolley Equipment competency is valid for 5 years.

Sponsor Manager’s Responsibility – The Sponsor Manager is responsible for assessing suitability for this course, following the guidelines in NR/L2/CTM/021 (Competence & Training in Track Safety).
Minimum Age – Must be at least 16 years old.
Sentinel Profile & Sponsor – Must have an active Sentinel profile with a valid Sponsor who has authorised the training.
Valid Sentinel Card – Sentinel Card must be endorsed with a valid, in-date PTS competence.
For Network Rail Staff Only– Must hold a valid PTMP 00 Core competence.
Medical Requirements – Must meet the medical standards outlined in:
- NR/L2/OHS/00124 – Competence Specific Fitness Medical (Medical Level 1 or 2 only).
- NR/L2/OHS/0120 – Network Rail’s Drugs & Alcohol requirements.
English Language Proficiency – Must have a sufficient command of English as specified in NR/S/CTM/021 (Competence & Training in Track Safety).

Results for the PTMP 16 Safe use of Trolley Equipment Competence will be uploaded onto your Sentinel card/profile within 24 hours on successful completion of the event. Should there be any complication in uploading the competence, we will endeavour to resolve the matter within 5 working days.
